    Screencast demos on Avalon/XAML

Tim Sneath, a Microsoft technical evangelist just posted couple of Screencast videos (more are coming!) on Avalon and usage of XAML. Don't miss the 12-line RSS blog reader! Also, the XAML introduction is really cool!

Channel9 is posting some great videos on Avalon (Checkout the heatlhcare demo - it made me go OOOOOHHH this is way cool!!!)

I had mentioned about a "hello world" program - Avalon style, in my earlier blog entry... I got caught up with some product related work (working on converting our existing codebase from VS 6.0 to VS 2005 and compiling it under the .NET CLR, the fun stuff). But that Avalon "hello world" demo is coming soon! Till then enjoy these great screencasts and demos.

    Another try at blogging ...

    Okay, let's start again...

Well, that I-am-a-new-blogger post didn’t start off well. After a few weeks I am posting again - and this time hoping to be regular. I've been busy working at a project (company where I work); we are couple of weeks away from shipping this product!

I've also been playing around with Avalon/XAML on my XP machine (laptop). Last weekend I decided to go crazy and install Vista Beta 1 on my laptop's second partition. The experience has been much better than what I got from the VPC.

There are not many resources on Avalon/XAML, but whatever there is currently; there is lot of examples and basics to get one started on this new programming model. Below or some of the blogs and website I frequently visit (okay, at least twice a day):

    Blogs:
    LonghornBlogs - http://longhornblogs.com
    Adam Nathan's Win32 to WinFX - http://blogs.msdn.com/adam_nathan/

    Other websites in general:
Channel9 (Great videos, sneak previews, discussions) - http://channel9.msdn.com

    XAMLShare (Avalon/XAML Code/Samples/Controls Wiki) - http://xamlshare.com

I'll update this list with any new blogs or websites I find. I've found Channel9 to be a great place for any new announcements (Microsoft in general, including Vista and Avalon), WinFX demos, and user code samples in general. Also the Microsoft newsgroup link will take you to other WinFX / Avalon newsgroup on the site. A lot of developers and program managers from the WinFX and Vista teams frequent those newsgroups and answer questions and post any new announcements.

Next post I'll start on how to setup development environments on both Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista...and also how to write a simple Hello World program - the Avalon way!
